Care Guide

Your Blackout Sleep Mask is made from 22-momme Grade 6A Mulberry Silk — the highest quality silk available. With a few simple habits, it will last for years.

Washing

Hand wash your mask in cool water with a mild, gentle detergent. A small amount of detergent designed for delicates works best.

Gently swirl the mask in the water for 30-60 seconds. Don't scrub, twist, or wring the fabric — silk fibers are strongest when treated gently.

Rinse thoroughly in cool water until all detergent is removed.

How often: Every 1-2 weeks with regular use, or whenever it feels like it needs a refresh.

Drying

Lay the mask flat on a clean, dry towel and let it air dry naturally. Gently press the towel against the mask to absorb excess water — don't wring it out.

Keep it out of direct sunlight while drying, as prolonged sun exposure can weaken silk fibers over time.

Never use a machine dryer. The heat breaks down the silk and can damage the strap.

Storage

Keep your mask flat in a clean, dry place — a nightstand drawer or dresser works perfectly. Avoid crumpling it or stuffing it into tight spaces, as this can create creases in the silk.

When traveling, lay it flat in your bag or between folded clothes to keep its shape.

What to Avoid

  • Hot water — breaks down silk proteins
  • Bleach — destroys silk fibers
  • Fabric softener — coats the silk and reduces its natural breathability
  • Machine washing — the agitation can damage the delicate fibers
  • Machine drying — heat degrades silk permanently
  • Ironing directly — if needed, use the lowest setting with a cloth between the iron and the silk

First Use

Before wearing your mask for the first time, give it a quick hand wash in cool water. This removes any residual treatment from the manufacturing process and ensures the silk sits naturally against your skin from night one.

When to Replace

Honestly, you shouldn't need to for a long time. 22-momme Grade 6A silk is built to last. Unlike lower-grade silk or synthetic masks that pill and degrade within months, your mask will maintain its texture, light-blocking ability, and comfort for years with proper care.

If you ever notice the silk thinning, pilling, or losing its smoothness, it's time for a new one — but with the care steps above, that's unlikely to happen anytime soon.
